Elektrogas offers a high pressure, 90 PSI, version of their safety shut-off solenoid valves (SSOVs) with proof of closure. The valve body is made with a solid aluminum alloy die cast with a wide range of NPT thread and ANSI connections.
The VMx series are normally closed SSOVs. When no power is present, the spring, along with the inlet gas pressure, keeps the valve sealed tightly.
The 90 PSI version is a piloted valve. When power is applied, the pilot valve is opened using the electromagnet. The inlet pressure of the gas is used to open the main valve. VMR is fast opening and fast closing. VML is slow opening and fast closing. The slow opening behavior is thanks to a dampener (oil brake) which decreases the rate at which the valve is allowed to open. The opening speed for VML is variable.
90 PSI models are recommended for main gas trains and burner gas trains where extremely high cycle counts are not expected.
Proof of Closure
Elektrogas’s proof of closure device incorporates a two-tone LED in the DIN plug. This is important because whenever code requires the use of proof of closure, visual indication is also mandatory. Using a two-tone LED is necessary because code states you must use a different light to signal each state (open/closed) — it is not permitted for the absence of a illumination to signal either state, because this could provide false information in the case an LED has failed.
In systems where proof of closure is not required, you may still need visual indication. For these situations, Elektrogas offers a mechanical visual indicator (VI), which is sold and ships separately. All non-POC valves are prepared for the VI
The 90 PSI version is not listed on Combustion 911, but is available. Please contact us for more information!
