Jennifer Williams recently became the new Vice President of Combustion at Olsträd Engineering! We had the opportunity to ask Jennifer some questions about her time at Olsträd, her new position, and her plans moving forward.
Congratulations on your new title! Do you have any plans for the combustion group you can share?
My plan and vision for the combustion side of the business is to focus on being a parts supplier. We are continuing to obtain approvals on our existing products and work with suppliers to develop new products as well.
What new responsibilities come with the new title?
I have more team members reporting to me now. I also have to keep track of the combustion projects and what’s going on in the shop on the combustion side. Basically everything combustion; it is up to me to make sure it is getting done.
You’ve been at Olsträd for 6 years; do you think this has prepared you for your new role?
Absolutely! I have learned so much from everyone here and continue to learn. I would never claim to know everything about combustion, but I know how to support customers and have the right people in place to be able to do that. Taking care of the customer is at the center of our combustion business. We are committed to providing the best product support in the business.
You recently visited Elektrogas; how did this help you grow in your new position?
My visit to Italy was amazing. I learned so much about the difference in cultures. It was great to be able to see the products actually being made and gave me a better perspective on how they do things. I have a better understanding when we ask for something, what it takes for them to make it happen. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to visit and look forward to continuing to support the Elektrogas products here in the US, and many more trips in the future!
What’s been your greatest personal achievement in the last year?
Wow… So many things… But growing into my management role I think has been the most important to me. I took several management classes and learned so much about management over the last year. Not just from the classes, but from working with other managers and from my team. It was really an area that I wanted to focus on in 2022, and I think I did that, but there is always room for continued growth.
Do you have anything else exciting planned for 2023?
Personally, I hope to continue to grow as a leader. I’m attending a Yale Women’s Leadership Conference for a week this year. I want to be a positive energizer to the team that we have. I want them to continue to learn and grow as team members and individuals. We have a great team, great customers and great vendors. I just want to support all of them as best I can and learn how to do that in the most positive way. I want to get more involved on the sales and marketing side of the business as well. There is a lot for me to still learn but I’m ready, working hard, and excited for the challenge!
