The Operation of a VMR Solenoid Valve
You use them to safely shut-off the gas in your combustion system, but how do solenoid valves work? We’ve put together a video to demonstrate. We hope you enjoy it!
- The Elektrogas VMR is a fast-opening, fast-closing safety shut-off solenoid valve.
- This model has proof of closure. Elektrogas proof of closure devices use a two-tone LED as a visual indicator. Green means this valve is closed.
- Safety shut-off valves are normally closed. Power must be applied to open the valve.
- When power is applied, the copper coil becomes an electromagnet. This model has a blue LED to indicate power is applied.
- Once magnetized, the shuttle rises against the force of the inlet pressure, and the force of the spring.
- The valve opens, allowing gas to flow through the system.
- When power is removed, the force of the spring closes the valve in less than one second.
- Valve tightness is aided by the inlet pressure. The flow of gas is stopped.
- Apply power to open the valve again.
Other Elektrogas solenoid valves include the VMR..OTN, VML, and VMM
