Q: Can you adapt ISO plugs to Elektrogas valves?
A: We’ve supplied dozens of customers with Elektrogas valves for retrofit applications, and we understand the challenges associated with installing a valve that is a little different, whether the difference is in the physical dimensions, or in the electrical connection. We stock Elektrogas solenoid valves with electrical connection via plug and socket (conforming to the following norms: DIN 43650A; ISO 4400; EN 175301-803 A) because in our experience, these plugs are more accessible for the wire gauges common in the USA, as opposed to using the terminals in the electrical housing on the valve, which were designed with smaller European wire sizes in mind.
If you’re using SO cord, there’s no problem. But things can get a little complicated when your wire run is inside conduit, whether rigid or flexible. The plug included with each (relevant) Elektrogas solenoid valve has PG9 female thread, and most conduit runs to these valves will be in a ½” size, terminating in NPT (male). The solution is our PG9-1/2NPT conduit adapter, which allows you to adapt ISO plugs to Elektrogas valves.
Remember, the orientation of the plug can be easily changed. Just remove the screw, pop the plate out with a small screwdriver, rotate, and pop it back in.
PG9-1/2NPT should appear in the Accessories sections of safety shut-off valves VMR, VML, VMM, and VMR..OTN; solenoid valves for air VRA/VLA/VTA; normally open vent valves VMRNA; and solenoid actuator for butterfly valves SR/SL/ST. Installation of gas equipment must be performed by qualified technicians only, and in compliance with local and national codes. As always, please contact us with questions!
